BTW, the AMD 64-bit chip is also supposed to have implemented hyper-
transport, arguably in a more useful form to us music people than the 
IBM chip (I think AMD's chip can use hyper-transport to connect the 
processor to main memory, while the IBM one uses it to connect the 
processor to graphics hardware instead, and is probably designed more 
for the graphics/video community. or something. ) But the altivec 
commands are significant, yes.

OK, if you say so. I try not to keep up with OS internals stuff any 
more, I get too wound up about how pathetically little progress these 
guys make. <grrr>
