The Roland V-Drums are awesome. Really. I've heard people
playing convincing trio jazz type stuff on them. But they
are $$$pricey$$$.

I just got rid of my DrumKat and KicKat because I was
always able to get better (although not quicker) results
by programing drums with the mouse. I guess it depends
on how good a drummer you are and what kind of music
you do.

OK, sounds good! I am thinking about the TD-8K set, which I think is a part
of the V-drum line. The price over here is about $4000,- The TD-10 set is
twice the price though...

I hope it is easier to play the drums (or rather have a drummer play the
beats) than to program by hand with the mouse/keyboard. I find it to be
quite time consuming and perhaps not what I enjoy the most by making music.

It is mainly for pop/rock.

If you have access to good drummers, I think that is a good
way, especially if you want it to sound human. My playing
sounded a little _too_ human. :) Also I do a lot of very
drum-intensive electronic stuff, and since I'm no Dave Weckl,
I can't pull off physically what I hear in my head, even
at half-tempo.

One thing you might think about is using real miked-up hihat
and cymbals, I think that would really make the whole set
sound more alive (and feel better too I guess).

Hehe, I guess that goes for me too. Fortunately I have access to good
drummers though.

Just came from the store with a brand new V-drums DT-8K! I'm putting it
together now, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. What a puzzle!!
