[OT] Simple recording software recommendation

[OT] Simple recording software recommendation

2003-07-22 by antcinq

I am a long time Logic Audio user (started on PC ver 2.0 and
switched to Mac summer 2002) using 5.5.1 now. My long time writing
parter (25 years!!!) is moving to the "other side" of Los Angeles.
He has a G3 - and a limited bugdet. What we are thinking about is
getting a simple audio recording software program on his machine so
I can email files to him (mp3), he can download and insert onto his
machine and record his vocal tracks. Once he's done, he would email
me the file (a wav or aiff file) and I would insert it back into
Logic and finish the tune - or at least get a decent recording of
the tune (we typically have other singers finish the tunes. He
doesn't have the budget for Logic Audio. I know he'll need a
digital interface so he can plug a mic into the computer. Is there
a simple digital audio program for the Mac (OS9) that this list can
reccomend?

Thanks in advance

Programs such as Pro Tools Free are on that site.

Yeah, ProTools sounds like a decen solution for your case.
If you want to upgrade a little bit and have more than the 8 tracks
allowed by PT Free, you can find a used Audio Media III card on eBay
(maybe $50), and get ProTools LE ($50).
That should give you 24 tracks.

There. 24 tracks for under $100 :)
