I'm a singer/songwriter. I work with studios to write songs. I
don't play instruments much, but I can dibble dabble on piano to hear
sounds. So far, how I work is to have the producers give me some
sort of base tracks on a CD and writing melody and lyrics to that and
then record when I get back into the studio. That has worked so
far. But it becomes cumbersome when I want to deviate from the base
track. I want the freedom to arrange things myself as I am working
out the melody and lyrics.

I think Logic can be the solution. I am not looking to have a home
studio. All I need is enough so I can create my own base track and
at some point in the future, I would want to be able to record voice
as well. So, it's pretty basic. I know this is very basic, but it
would allow me to be a much freer artist. Can people tell me what
exactly do I need equipment-wise to do all this? Thanks!
