working with drum loops-HELP!!!

working with drum loops-HELP!!!

2004-03-18 by dollenmayer

Getting frustrated trying to work with drum loop regions within
Logic 4.8 on windows ME. trying to follow manual to no avail. I am
importing in a .wav file, easily copying but can't move the regions
by 1 click like the manual suggests, to get them to line up. Also
tried using start and end positions within event list, but I can't
change start and stop position. Anyone with experience please
help. I have only used Logic at this point to record "live"
musicians. I want to get into more "remixing" etc. Thanks! for any
help.

Make sure you have your environment tempo set to match the temp of the
loop you're importing.

Can you be more specific?

Suppose you want to time correct a beat.
This is what I do. I make a rough cut of the
audio file on the arrange page. Then click on the section
to bring up the sample editor. Then you can move the
starting point, but make sure you select the menu option
NOT to update arrange position. Before or after, you open
the event listeditor to move that audio to 1 1 1 1 (or use shift drag
and look at the popup event list for that one item)

This is an area of Logic which is clumsy. I really wish they would
overhaul it. Make a grid, be able to move things around on the sample
window to snap to the grid. Otherwise its amazingly time consuming
and picky work.

It helps to have some keycommands set up, with different zooms, move
to front or back of selection, etc.
