Some time ago I asked for a good (EUR 1500-2500 per set) active monitor 
speaker. I got lots of good advice, but one brand stood out for 
everyone, ADAM. I'm thinking about the P22a. Anyone know that one? Can 
anybody tell me what the difference is with the S-series? For instance 
the S2A. They're more expensive, but is it worth the extra money? Any 
other advices for speakers are welcome.

As Dave Bryce explained to me once at BBQ, the P series has more 
'traditional' bass response. The  S series has more 'true' bass 
response.I have the S3A and they offer plenty of bass for rock and 
jazz, but it's extremely tight bass. If you do electronica style (Broad 
stroke, I know) they will work, but you won't get all the bass hype. 
You can always pick up a sub to impress clients, though.

The ADAMs are fantastic monitors. They won't make all your CD collectin 
sound good. They'll bring out all the flaws. They're brutally honest 
monitors. Your mixes will translate to many many systems. You don't 
really have to 'learn' them. If it sounds right on the ADAMs it gonna 
sound right pretty much anywhere else. This is my opinion and it is 
shared by many people, but you have to decide for yourself.

Be aware that monitors are a very personal thing and you must find some 
way to audition a pair before you buy.
