>>I do have a tip for everyone that I just learned. If you want to zip 
a file to send to a PC user, you can do this mac X without stuffit or 
any special software.
   1. Copy the file "oldfile" to your username directory (the little 
"house" icon in the finder window)
    2. Open Applications > Utilities > Terminal
   3. type :   zip newfilename.zip  oldfile<<

Actually, to create a zip file is even simpler, with Panther (10.3), 
and does not require using the Terminal:  Control-click (one button 
mouse) or right click (two button mouse) the file you want to zip, and 
from the contextual menu that appears choose "Create Archive..."  
That's it; you're done!
