Weird Tiger Behavior - Burning CDs in the Finder

Weird Tiger Behavior - Burning CDs in the Finder

2005-06-02 by Brian Pylant

I've been less than thrilled with Tiger already (it feels slower on
my machine than Panther, Mail seems a bit kludgier, Spotlight
useless, etc.) but now I'm having a bunch of weird issues burning CDs
in the Finder. The burned CD-R forgets all visual attributes you
apply (window position, background image, icon view, etc.) and you
cannot assign a custom icon to the CD, the burned disc mounts with
the default CD icon no matter what you do.

Anyone else notice this, and (hopefully) have a workaround? Or are
these aspects of CD burning in Tiger broken?

So, the solution ended up being to use Disk Utility to create an
image, set all the window attributes and burn a CD from the disk
image. It works, but what a pain in the butt workaround for something
that used to be so simple to do right in the Finder.

Color me disgruntled.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
