Logic 7 was just donated to my studio, but the XSKEY was not included for
one reason or another.  Is there a way to purchase an xskey or is this
sofware just useless without it.  It downloaded fine it just wont let me
open the software.

The XSKey is mandatory. without it, Logic 7 won't run, so yes, whatever was donated is useless without the Key. If you intend to run Logic 7, you will need to look out for a genuine licence for sale. Otherwise, it is worth considering Logic Studio with Logic Pro 8, which no longer requires an XSKey and is the current version of Logic. Logic 7 is no longer offered by Apple.
