Careful of the larger capacity drives. In particular, sizes larger than 500G as they tend to be noisy, which is obviously not good for audio mixing and recording. Also, don't rely on the noise specs as they taken when the disc is in the non-access/idle mode and not when the disc is in active read/write, which is the noisiest mode. A Network Attach Storage (NAS) is ideal as you can locate your switch and drive in a separate room than you are working in. They also make Wireless NAS drives in case your switch is located next to your workstation, you can put the drive anywhere within wireless reach.
