I have ported code from a C51 to a XAG49 and now to the LPC (ARM mode) and found that data size is about 15% more data and about 12% less code size and I am getting 25% more speed at the same clock frequencey set by all three compilers. I used a Tasking XA and am currently using the IAR for the ARM. The C51 was a Kiel derivative company called Franklin Software. In terms of the best compiler I liked Tasking and was sorry to see that they did not make an ARM version. There are many reasons people like the compiler or hate it. It's just a prefernce issue more then anything else. We bought IAR which has done a great job, but they have issues as well. Documentation being one of them. Knowing what I know now I may have purchased the Rowley compiler instead. just my opinion, Charles
