I tried the IAR kit, and I was not happy. They had quite a few bugs. Far more than I expected for an expensive compiler. Then I tried the GNUARM and it worked right off the bat. I've never looked back since. I was fully prepared to pay $2K for a dev system, but the fact is the GNUARM worked better and was free. I just run it out of UltraEdit as my IDE and I have no desire to change. If the GCC compiler is good enough to compile all of 10GB Linux on multiple platforms, it's good enough for my embedded apps.
Chris.

For a professional developer which would be the compiler of choice:
IAR
Keil
Or another?
I would like to keep the costs under 3K if possible.
