What library are you using?  I'm using NewLib and it seems to be 
reasonable in size.  Of course, I stay away from stuff like sprintf(), 
sscanf() and use itoa() + my own atoi() routines..  Sometimes you just 
gotta write your own stuff, heh.  ;-)
