All the hardware requirements needed custom designs, so there was no requirement to support DeviceNET or CANOpen devices. I think it would have been nice to use a standard protocol, but I have not investigated the original arguments for not using a standard protocol. Perhaps there were some specific requirements that were more easily met (eg. required less microcontroller processing) to support. I believe the protocol developed made extensive use of the hardware support in the XAC3's for message filtering, to reduce their message processing. Cheers Dave
