LPC2106 in new housing - is the SPI bug fixed?

2005-12-08 by Mark Butcher

Hi All

I have been using the LPC2106 in LQFP48 for some time now. This is
also available HVQFN48 now - it wasn't when we started production -
and I want to move to this to reduce height in future products.

I also want to use the SPI interface but know that there is a bug in
the chips we have at the present in Master mode (SSEL must be tied
high) which is not so back but have never been able to get the thing
to do anything sensible in slave mode (rx fine but tx unpredicatable
at the best).

So the question is this. Is it possible that the SPI bugs will be
cured in the new devices (moving to the new housing) or are the dies
identical and so still with the known restrictions? I would really
like to use the SPI as slave (although can live with master mode if
absolutely necessary).

I have HVQFN48 samples on the way and am preparing a new PCB for
tests - if I could be sure that there is an improvement, I could set
up the SPI as I would really like it to be on the board. Can anyone
confirm or must I assume the error?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards
