When someone knows up-front that their debug facilities will be non-existent it makes them think a bit harder about the design and be more careful when they code. It also encourages the creation of built-in debug and/or logging facilities in the software which can be rather valuable in the field. While I value the productivity benefits that come from using a JTAG to debug problems, I try to encourage my colleagues not to use it unless they _really_ have to. But debuggers are a bit of a religious issue ... it's vi versus emacs all over again :) --Craig
