I dont think the major problem is the "local echo" but the write enable on the 
bus. When the LPC responds to the ISP he must set the DE pin. If you can 
avoid this problem (this site has an circuit which use a 74123 to do it - as 
I understand, I didnt check what the 74123 do in her datasheet), you can also 
avoid the problem using the same idea on the RE pin.
