Minumim setup for LPC2148

2006-02-24 by pitstock_kiwi

I am setting up my schematic for an LPC2148 board.

Heres my take on the minimum connections to make the chip power up
and run.

Obviously connect all the 3.3v and 0v connections as per data sheet.
Add a clock source. I am more interested in ports here.

What I have established so far is.

P0.14 - Pull up to avoid bootload mode.
P0.31 - Do not pull down as per errata. (pull up is internal)
P1.20 - Do not pull down or you get trace mode. (pull up is internal)
P1.26 - Do not pull down or enables debug ports. (pull up is internal)

So basically I can connect a single pull up to P0.14 and have no
connects on P0.31 P1.20 P1.26. Connect a 12mhz crystal and 22pf caps
(per my case). Connect power and gnd to appropriate pins.
and the chip should run (assuming it has a program loaded.)

The data sheet features say "Single power supply chip with Power-On
Reset (POR) and BOD circuits" : Which to me means no connection on
the Reset pin is ok too as it has internal (POR) "power on reset" and
(BOD) "brown out detector". I will place pads as pet the Keil MCB1240
for and RC on the Reset pin as an option.

Does this all sound right or am I am on the wrong track?

Cheers
Kiwi Keith
