You would not need to poke any holes to download w/ bittorrent. And I'm pretty sure that there would be enough users willing to do so (myself included) that the bandwidth would be reasonably shared. Honestly, how is opening a hole for bittorrent _that _ much different than the holes you already have via http and your users' browsers? In my mind, the exposure risk associated w/ a typical internet user is at least an order of magnitude higher than that associated w/ running a bittorrent client.
