I/O voltage at 1.8V?

Is it possible to work with 1.8V for the I/O (Vdd3)? There are many
cases where no external 3.3V logic is needed and I could live with 1.8V
levels at the outputs. But this seems not possible with current devices.
Maybe with future ones?
