Can you explain how me pointing out that comparing raw flash speeds is 
misleading and irrelevant is "shooting myself in the foot"?

I've already pointed out that the comparison I'd use is to conduct 
benchmarks relevant to the application that include whatever speed up 
mechanisms (MAM etc.) provided.

If you think there's a better way, I'd be interested to hear it.
