I currently have software running on an LPC2148 that reads mp3 files from an SD card, and ships the data off to an mp3 decoder chip. This takes about 10% CPU usage, so if decoding can be done with 50% CPU usage, it should be possible. I'm using the EFSL library for access to the SD card.
