I use SDT, and ARM Application Note 38 tells how to do it with SDT's debugger. It is also possible to use the Debug Comms Channel with AXD, but I do not have any information about what the differences would be at the AXD end. It should be covered in your ADS documentation though. I have used the ARM7TDMI Debug Comms Channel with other ARM based parts, but I have never used it with a Philip's part.
