The main purpose of the driver is to isolate the 3.3v JTAG pins
from the (nominal) 5v parallel port levels with good wave shape.
Since most software solutions allows different clock speeds, you
have multiple options (AC is faster (I believe) than HC which has
slighly different logic levels than LS).

by "g pf", digging deeper into his link you will find:

which give you one option for items 2) and 3).

Also, a past post with a link on using the Eclipse IDE to compile and
program the ARM also gave very good info with hints on making it work.
