There are no limitations to the gcc compiler. There might be limitations to 
the debugger if you are using the Keil one though.

Most people just use Cygwin for the command tools etc. Cygwin runs within 
Windows and does not take over the Windows PC. You canuse regular Windows 
editors.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
