Got a question here. I have a whole pile of 512KB SRAM memory chips (8-bit wide access, 19 address lines) and I would like to use them as a kind of "swap file" for SRAM usage, so I don't care too much about speed of access. What would be the best way of hooking one of these up to a 2438 or 2338? Directly is a bit of a pain because there aren't any large blocks of I/O pins available (without constantly reconfiguring the pins), I could use some external latches to save some pins, but then again a small 8051 uC with 8KB Flash and external memory bus and SPI/I2C costs $1.50, so if it's going to cost much in external components then I'd be better off just adding in an 8051 as a memory controller... Anyone here have any better ideas? Thanks!
