Re: impact of boot loader bugs on CRP
2006-02-19 by Jayasooriah
Hello, The emails I have received on CRP issues suggests there are people who follow the discussions in this forum that are quite seriously concerned at what role Philips is playing in killing the CRP thread (see attached poster by Robert). Of particular concern is the Command String Interpreter (CSI) bug that I said crashes the boot loader. As explained before, I discovered this by quite by accident, upon examining boot loader code version 1.52 on LPC 2105. I have been asked to clarify the status of this bug on parts with CRP feature. A similar CSI bug exists in boot loader version 1.64 on LPC 2292 that am now working with. I am able to exploit this bug to crash the boot loader even with the CRP feature enabled. I do not wish to frustrate the jet lagged Robert more than I already have. So I will not post details here. However, if you are concerned about what this bug may mean to protection of your IP using CRP feature, and/or would like a custom boot loader that is free of such bugs, and one that can meet your compliance requirements, please feel free to get drop me an email. No responses on this forum please -- we must learn to keep Robert's noise (things Robert does not like to hear) down so that he is happy and will continue to participate in "great technical discussions" by his "many fine engineers" in this forum.
