Hi folks,

nice to see (some of) you again on this list (as well as on MSP, AVR, 
etc.).

There was mention some times ago of a Philips www page where one 
could ask for some LPC samples by simple clicking on a window and 
filling some form (which I did).

Is there any experience how long it takes for the chips to appear?

Not that I'm that impatient, but as soon as I mentioned that I was 
going to take a closer look at some new fast and low power ARM 
controllers, a colleague came up with a design, where the LPC might 
just fit very well. If it takes Ph some while to process that www 
requests, I might go to a distributor meanwhile.

Oh, btw: Could it be that this www sample offer was limited to 
some "corner" of this globe (e.g. USA :) ) and I'm SOL anyway?

Took 8 weeks for mine to show up.  And then, it was the wrong package.
So, I gave it to Leon as he wanted to make a board for it.  As far as 
we know, Leon has the only MLF that we know of, now.

So, uhhh, breath holding isn't recommended.  Fortunately, Leon, being
a good sport, set me up just fine.

The only people I know of with whom I've had worse luck in getting 
samples would be Ramtron.  Filled in the web form, got a sales call,
spoke for a bit, he said he'd get me some chips, then nothing.  Man,
their uP companion chips look very useful (reset, brownout, RTC,
memory all in one chip), but if you can't get them, what's the point?

I sent them an email (actually, I think it was through their support
web page) after someone here said they got samples that way.  I
received a reply saying they would send me samples.  This was the 2124
which is not currently available, so I guess ES are available on most
of these parts.  

Go to the web site and go through the contact or support page.  

BTW, I also requested samples when someone posted the web page.  But
the sample link turned out to be for the LPC900 parts and that is what
I received.
