Asian/European distributors (digikey, etc)

Asian/European distributors (digikey, etc)

2006-05-18 by Steve Franks

Hi all,

I hope this isn't too off-topic, but the topic has been circled before when
LPC's were(are) scarce. Digikey just informed me that all shipments come
from MN, USA, and include about $50USD for airmail/fedex to Asia/Europe. As
I'm considering an extended stay in Korea, I'm wondering what competetors
are out there. I've also heard people talk about "digikey europe", as
though they did have distribution locally on other continents - it's
entirely possible I was communicating with someone uninformed.

Also, I know we Americans are spoiled by our ways of doing business and
assume everything to be online, instant, impersonal, mechanized, etc. If
that's not so much the case for locating parts in Asia & Europe, can anyone
warn me so I don't insult their contrymen at some point in the future, if
possible (or at least insult them over some *other* assumption of mine)?

Thanks,
Steve

One can buy from from Digi-Key here in the UK, but goods are shipped from
the US and it is expensive. Farnell stocks some LPC2000 parts.
