Floating Point performance

Floating Point performance

2003-12-05 by harshit suri

Hi All

1)Can we perform floating point operations using the
latest lpc series MCUs?
i specifically need to perform a PID controller and
need flaoting point for precision. as the coordinates
we get are in real numbers and not integers

2)Do we have to code in C to use floating point if its
available or could it be done in assembly too?

thanks

Umm, floating point gives dynamic range. It generally reduces precision.

The next question that comes to mind is what sort of communication channel
are you getting your numbers through and what sort of update rate so you need?

BTW, anyone else completely missing messages? I've sent out at least one
message that wasn't echoed back within 24 hrs and checking Yahoo's site I
see others I haven't received. I'm trying to figure out where they are
getting swallowed.

Hi Robert,

all my messages show up almost instantly. I never use e-mail though,
always posting direct inside the yahoo group.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
