Speechless

I have a cheap Wriggler clone and evaluation board from Web7days. I
(now) know that by paying a little bit more I could have got much
better, and I will be getting some better tools.

But, today I got back to ny LPC project and as the Web7days kit is all
I have at the moment I resumed work with that. I get a lot of problems
with the jtag I/F, and reasoned that it ain't that
complicated....let's fix it. Armed with Leon Hellers scheme in the
file section I found the problem in 2s flat.....pins 1 and 2 of the
jtag connector on the evaluation board were connected together but to
nothing else....the '244 on the wriggler had Vcc at 2V courtesy of the
protection diodes.

And this is the MKII version of the board!

You get what you pay for.....I saved perhaps $30 by going to Web7days,
the worse "saving" I have ever made in my life!

Best advice is that if you want a cheap LPC board, the Olimex kit is
pretty hard to beat. Every board we've received here works without
problem.

With Olimex you don't pay over the odds, you get a clean piece of
hardware, and it *does* work. Not only that, but Tsvetan is a great guy
if you're having minor problems with your boards. Each time I've asked
about a suspected hardware fault, it's always been my problem, and not
the boards.

I'm glad my schematic helped. Was the track from pins 1 and 2 of the JTAG
connector actually missing? I find that hard to believe.

So did I, I could not see any connections but the board has a black
silkscreen so I stuck the DVM on 2M range and tried to find some
connection to anything. Nothing doing. So I ran a wire to the 3v3 and
everything runs fine.
