Lpc2000

Hi friends,

because there was no response of my last question, here is a new one.

In some publications the LPC213x series are introduced as the new
standard series. Of course they are more complete (brown-out, single 
supply etc)
and so in long terms the 210x and 212x will be of less interest or
become obsolete.

Taking the advantages of the 213x series in mind it must be clear that
there will be a LPC213x with CAN. Is this correct? I'm sure :-)
So when can we expect this new chips, datasheets etc. ??

The LPC210x range contains one device which for many applications can't 
be replaced by any of the devices in the LPC213x range. If you need more 
than 32KB of internal RAM, the LPC2106 is so far your only choice.

I'm absolutely sure that there will be a replacement for this device
which then has the advanced features of the LPC213x family.

But I hope they maintain a replacement with 48 pin  ... or you know 
different ?

I don't know anything about the strategy of Philips. But for some
decisions to do in the near future it is absolutely necessary to know
where the journey goes to. These 2-supply types and the missing brown
out remembers me to the old 2708 and Z80/8080 days :-(

Hi Rolf,

as we try to improve our devices naturally the newer devices have some
new and better features. If we wanted to replace the existing devices
the new devices would be pin compatible. The LPC210x, LPC211x and
LPC212x devices have been out in the field about 1 year longer than
the LPC213x and many designs have been made with those, there is
absolutely no plan to step away from the existing devices in favor for
better but not 100% compatible ones! Compatibility is king.

LPC2130 style devices with CAN?  Quite likely! We will announce when
we are closer to deliver. First comes the LPC2140 series with USB
(device).

We need our little secrets as well to surprise you every now and then ;-)

It's nice to hear that these types are in the pipeline!
