LPC210x Temperatur Range

LPC210x Temperatur Range

2005-03-06 by Mark Butcher

Hi All

I notice that only the LPC2106 is available in extended temperature
range (-40°C..+85°C rather than 0°C..+70°C). [not smaller RAM
versions]

In this case also the package is non-leaded.

Has anyone used this type (experiences?) and does anyone know how
the normal types can suffer outside of the commercial temperature
range?

Mark,

as I understand the technology, it is all about the process the device
is manufactured. All LPC210x are manufactured in the same process.
Also the LPC2106 is available in both packages extended temp. this
would somewhat disqualify the package to make the difference in temp
rating.
I am sure the LPC2104/2105 work at the same temperatures as the
LPC2106 BUT they are not tested for it. So, for peace of mind and in
a real commercial application I would go for the LPC2106 (or for a
member of the LPC2130 series, all -40/85) . If it for a 'fun project"
no problem using the LPC2104/2105.

Hi Bob

Do you have a reference for the extended temp. version of LPC2106 in
the "SOT313-2; plastic low profile quad flat package; 48 leads; body
7 x 7 x 1.4 mm" ?

Until now I have only found extended in "SOT619-1; plastic thermal
enhanced very thin quad flat package; no leads; 48 terminals; body 7
x 7 x 0.85 mm".

This would certainly solve any problems with footprint compatibility.
