IDE/ATA device connection to LPC2xxx ?

IDE/ATA device connection to LPC2xxx ?

2005-08-20 by DECwiz (Fred van Kempen)

Hi,

Can anyone offer advice as to which chip(set) to use to connect some
IDE disks (probably low-power 2.5" drives) to LPC22xx series MCU's ?

I guess I'm looking for a more-or-less standard IDE controller chip that
can be connected to one of the EMC's chipselects, as an external I/O
device...

Cheers,

Fred

I think should be able to connect the LPC22xx directly
to IDE/ATA unless you need the high speed DMA mode.

You need only I/O pins (GPIO), plus firmware that gets the timing
right. You need quite a few pins, though: 3 address lines, 16 data
lines, and about 6 or 7 control lines.

Kind regards,
Thiadmer

That is really great. Thanks a lot.
