Andrew, It depends, if you are really concerned about stuff like cable losses transient noise, and stuff like that the high end connector/cables would reduce that stuff. Probably for studio recording or live work you may want those little extras. For just doing home tinkering it doesn't make that much difference. The only exception may be the stiffness of the cables which would help keep them out of the way. Personally, I like to have the cables hanging down. It looks more technical and complex. Your Belden cable should work just fine. As I said before I use 50 ohm coax for my cables. The one thing that is important is the connectors themselves. The expensive ones discussed previously would not wear as much.
