I notice that >on the MOTM-420s' the sine out on self oscillation >sounds more square-like than the original MS stuff >which You may or may not want , maybe I'm doing >something wrong ? any ideas - anybody? Be sure that you don't have the RES set to 10. Rather, set it for the *onset* of resonance (about 8.5 on my system, where I set the trim pot). At resonance onset, the sine is the most pure. As you increase the RES pot, it will "square up" slightly due to the resistor/cap/OTA gains being not matched perfectly. Also, remember you will be driving a signal about 6V pk-pk out. This is 6 times larger than a "standard output" and the 'distortion' may be in your mixer/preamp/amp, not the MOTM itself. Paul S.
