This is possible. The other jack is a THRU. If you wanted to have 
both on the front, it might be confusing though.

Could the MIDI  IN jack be assigned a position on the front of the 
panel
where it could be omitted ?  Or is that section of the front panel 
needed
for something else?   If there is only one jack on a MIDI to CV 
panel, my
idea is that is does not necessarily need to have a screen to 
identify it as
MIDI in.  That is pretty obvious on a MIDI to CV.
