That is one thing I like about the current panel design (as posted by Moe).
You could put either 1/4 inch TRS or MIDI 5-pin DINs in that location.  And,
in case anyone missed the point, we can offer the panel with or without the
MIDI in and MIDI thru screen for those that might like to have the MIDI
behind the panel.

My suggestion of 1/4 jacks came from the impression that some people didn't
want the 5pin midi plugs on front, with the 1/4 jack they wouldn't even be
noticed.
