"Line lump" typically refers to a "wall wart" type design with an AC cord on one end, rather than plugging directly into the wall. The conversion unit is a lump in the middle of two cords, AC & DC, hence the name. I say this because I think the 500 series are going to appeal to a lot of people who may just want them on their own. So an individual low cost-ish solution seems a good idea.
