Useless Statistics

2002-12-10 by sucrosemusic <sucrosemusic@yahoo.com>

I was reading the previous posts about soldering issues, and noted in
particular "after you do 1000 of these..." or something to that
effect.

Are there any stats written up for the various modules, specifically
the numbers of certain parts (resisitors, caps, transistors, etc),
but more importantly, the number of overall solder joints?

I forsee an incredibly useless PHP or javascript-based web-app that
lets you plug in your entire setup ala the MOTM order page, but
instead of giving you a price at the bottom, it shows you the total
number of resistors, caps, diodes, transistors, ICs, pots and jacks
that you've used, and most importantly, the total number of solder
joints you've completed.

I, for one, like bragging to my friends about the number of resistors
in my MOTM-320, but then again, I am also crazy.

(Also, given these statstics, I could *probably* apply my weak PHP-
scripting skills and write up a page to do all this, though it might
be more suited for javascript, which I don't know)

Sorry for the vaguely-on-topic-but-pointless bandwidth.
