And you've made a good case for the Mac right there. The Mac is hardware and 
operating system from a single company.  It's kind of like a console game 
machine in that aspect.  I just don't think any large, buggy and burdensome 
operating system belongs in niche products like digital recorders.  That should 
all be inhouse code, or at most, some small low level operating system to build 
ontop of.  Game consoles haven't been running Microsoft code (until the Xbox), 
so I won't expect them to be bombing out all the time.

All this computer mess is why if I can get a String synth engine written, it 
will be a hardware box only (and maybe a stripped down motm module version).  
No VST plug-ins that will generate a million tech help phone calls and no 
software pirating issues either.  I may prefer the Mac over the PC, but I still 
hate all computers.
