I had enough trouble cramming the EX-2 into the house. The EX-1 has the nifty solo manual, but all in all I rather like the look of the EX-2 better. The rest of the organ is essentially the same. Besides, I do not relish a 40-hour round trip in a cargo van to haul such a beast home. (A 13-hour round trip for something that was 1/3 of that ebay price was much easier to deal with). Still, others might like an EX-1. Just understand it will take 6 people to move it. And, while claims to have inherited GX-1 circuitry are certainly valid, the EXs do not use VCOs; they use wavetable oscillators (sine tones included). The synth voice signal path is very CS-like, but it does not have the variable-bandpass filtered sawtooth or the noise, triangle or variable-highpass filtered pulse front-end the GX1 has. It does have two oscs per note, though. And to nimbly kick this onto MOTM-topic, the same filters as from which I made the MOTM-480 are in the EX-1 and EX-2.
