One last idea from me regarding the asr/loop mode. Could the switch be a three position so we could have 4 step (a -> b -> c -> d -> a) and 3 step (a -> b -> c -> a) loops? It seems rhythmically useful to have both an even and an odd length loop available. You could also have this functionality on the control input (the jack) using a positive voltage (a normal gate signal) for the 4 step pattern and a negative voltage for the 3 step pattern. "zero" volts for ASR mode.
