Correct - three separate ribbons physically in series, electrically independent. For some reason, the middle ribbon is 'reversed' from the left and right. So, to put them back together as a single ribbon you need to invert and offset the middle, offset the right, and sum them all together. There are discontinuities around the transitions but you can make them very small. Or - run them as three independent ribbons.
