Wave Folders, Wave Multipliers, etc.

2007-05-08 by Dave P.

Hi all,

I've been looking for an MOTM format Wave Multiplier / Wave Folder /
Wave Wrapper type module for quite a while and I'm wondering if
someone here can help me out. I have found a few of these, but most
are not MOTM format and more importantly, most don't sound like the
module I'm looking for.

I'm looking for one that sounds clean and musical, sort of like clean
digital FM sweeping or like the Nord Modular WaveWrapper module or
like the middle section of a Serge Wave Multiplier module (even
harmonics). Most of sound clips I've heard on the various web sites
(for example Bridechamber and Bananalogue WVX) sound like very harsh
distortion boxes, most suitable for NIN-type music or SciFi sound
design. The one that sounds most like what I'm looking for can be
heard here, at the Yusynth site:
http://yusynth.net/Modular/index.html
Click on the Wave Folder module about half way down & you'll get a
page that has some audio clips.

But this YuSynth module is strictly DIY. I have no problem building
kits (I built all of my MOTM modules) but I'm not interested in
fabricating my own PCBs and front panels.

So does anyone have any leads on something like this, either fully
assembled or in full kit form? Ideally it would be a simple single-
width module, very similar in size & appearance to the YuSynth module.

Thanks much,

Dave P
