RE: [motm] Filter recomendations?

2009-01-29 by John L Rice

Hi Ross!

I've only tried the 440 and 490 so far and both are great but I think the
440 is 'greater' . . at least on most days! ;-) I have a 485 on the way
though too.

Not a Synth Tech item but I'm really impressed with the STG Sea Devils
filter from what I've heard from his demo and plan on getting one of those
at some point. It may very well be that STG is just talented at making
interesting demos and the sounds he created could be done with any low pass
filter but . . . .I'll get one just in case! Heh.

Yeup, based on what you are looking for you probably should get a MOTM-440
AND MOTM-485 AND STG Sea Devils filter! (where is that Muff Wiggle hyper
emoticon when ya need one?! ;-)

I'll need to pick up a MOTM format filter soon. I have some in other
formats, but none in 5U. My favorates in the other formats are the Mankato
I have in frac and the cwejman dual mode and livewire Frequensteiner in
euro. However I'm looking at finding something a little different for my
MOTM format filter. I've especially been looking at the MOTM 410 and the
MOTM 440, but welcome any other suggestions as well.

I'm mostly doing Noise/Drone in my solo shows/recordings, and also playing
with a Doom Metal band doing drones and Hawkwind like psychedelic sounds.
