I have a 3-rack setup, and I agree that patching is no different than it would be in a single cabinet, providing that -- you distribute modules logically between rack cabinets, and -- you have a selection of cable lengths appropriate to your layout All the complexities I've found in setting up this synth were literally on the back end, in having to rig 1 or more discrete power supplies for each rack cabinet. Once that was settled, it was like I had one big cabinet (though I could also use individual cabinets separately for smaller projects or, or to take a single cabinet to a studio or live gig, if one came up).
