I actually don't agree with this statement, even though on the surface it
seems almost obvious.

A synthesizer is a musical instrument, and it's human interface is extremely
important. Why use a modular at all when you can buy a VST plug-in for less
than the price of a single hardware VCO? Is it because the sound is THAT
much better? I don't think so. I prefer the hardware because there is an
"experience" to using a modular synthesizer that is unlike anything else.
Accept no substitutes!

I actually have two cabinets of Euro modules but I hardly ever turn them on
- in fact, the only times I've powered them up at all in the past three
years is to use the Metasonix tube VCO and jack it into an MOTM patch.
Honestly. I really discovered that I get very frustrated with the Euro
format; Frac-Rack too. I gave them a chance, I bought a couple of dozen
modules because there were some unique offerings with features I really
wanted to play with. But it's an awful experience compared to using the MOTM
format system.

These are just my opinions of course, thousands of Euro-users would
disagree, but in any case, there's a lot more to a modular than just the
sound.

(That said, I really don't think my Euro system sounds as good as my MOTM
system.)
