The LFO rocks!

2000-02-07 by David Bivins

Hi folks,

I built the 320 LFO this weekend, and I am *really* impressed with it in
use.

First, for anyone who hasn't built it yet, it is very easy to build--just
time consuming (there are a hell of a lot of resistors). I was still able to
build it in less than five hours, and that's probably due to Paul's
wonderful standards--each kit is easier to build than the previous due to
experience.

But now the good part. I was pleasantly surprised to find that you could get
quite a bit of variation between different output waves. I had a patch that
was using the sine to modulate one 420 (white noise input for hi-hats) and
the saw to modulate another 420 (for a downward hi-pass sweep on an incoming
303 line).

If you want to hear it (not terribly exciting use of the modular, but I'm
more of a "it's a toolbox" kind of guy), I'm now uploading it to my little
mp3.com space:

The track is called "aurora heads"

It might not be up there for a few hours...

Actually, quite a few of my tracks use some MOTM, but it's subtle (I don't
have any oscillators!), so please listen to anything else there.

Later,

David Bivins (why do I have to be at work?!)
