I have a friend I used to gig with a lot that had another line of thought
like this.  We would normally pocket $150 each for a little acoustic duo
thing we were doing at the time.  Wherever, he wanted to buy anything, it
was, "I can buy that in only 3 (or fill in the number) gigs."
